Abstract
Introduction This study is part of the City-Region project developed by the Trans-disciplinaryCenter for Development Alternatives (CTAD) between 2009 and 2011. Objective To evaluatethe existing evidence of an integration process between the Bogota and Cundinamarca healthsectors, within the framework of the Capital Region’s conformation. Materials and MethodologiesThis research was based on the search of secondary sources, such as affiliation registries from theSingle Membership Database (BDUA) and the information supplied by the insurance and publichealth authorities from the Capital District’s health department, among others, thus resulting inthe evaluation of the degree of integration between territorial entities in health related matters. Conclusions The City-Region project focuses on generating strategies aimed at strengthening andpositioning the hospitals of the region within the national and international context. Most healthsectors in Cundinamarca and Bogota operate in an isolated way, which causes the constitutionprocess of a city-region in this particular area to be far from consolidated, and for its achievementto depend on a joint political view and on overcoming legal restrictions.
