Abstract
Purpose: to develop a method for the determination of spherical trial rigid contact lens based on the corneal topography, in patients with irregular cornea post refractive surgery Lasik type and Penetrating Keratoplasty. Methodology: adaptations of spheric rigid lens on those patients were done establishing the trial lens observing specific areas of the corneal topography and using the same curvature. The modifications were done based on the fluorogram in several controls and the final parameters of developed lenses and corneal topography were related. Results: 30 adaptations in post-surgery patients were done: 19 of Lasik and 11 at penetrating keratoplasty. The successful adaptation was accomplished, with more of 8 hours of continuous use, in the 94,7% of Lasik and in the 90,9% of the keratoplasty. Conclusions: If we established, based in the topography corneal, the average curvature: 3 millimeters temporal and nasal and lightly superior, we can select as a trial lens one with the same curvature value of spheric design. This design combined with optical zones with more than 8 millimeters and average total diameters of 10 millimeters, with a right analysis of the fluorogram offers very good results in irregular cornea post surgery of Lasik and penetrating Keratoplasty.
