Ocular accidents in the workshops of the Instituto Tecnico Industrial Piloto in Bogota from 2001 to 2003

Abstract

This work made a diagnosis about the ocular accidents among the students who study in the different workshops in the Instituto Tecnico Industrial Piloto in Bogota. Firstly, accident statistics during 2001 and 2003 were recuperated and checked to identify what was the workshop with the highest number of accidents, the grade and the number of accidents reported. It concluded that workshops of industrial mechanic, auto motor mechanic, and metalworking represent risk for students’ ocular health, with the highest number of accidents. Grades sixth, seventh, eight, and ninth have more accidents than tenth and eleventh.
