Abstract
Alterations have been described in the autonomic nervous system’s control on different organs and systems as a result of diabetes mellitus. They include the alteration of the autonomic regulation of the pupil, which has been called Diabetic Autonomic Pupillary neuropathy (nAPD, for its initials in spanish). This paper is a review of the existing relationship between pupillary dynamic and retinal changes in type 2 diabetic patients, and describes pupillary dynamics and retinal changes in diabetic patients, as well as the relationship between them and the time of evolution of the disease.
