Abstract
Fort the contact lenses fitting in patients with presbyopia diagnosis we start from the same universal premise related to all contact lens fitting, that is, there must be an anatomical and physiological integrity of the anterior segment (IACLE, 2001). Some of the anatomical and physiological conditions in patients older than 40 years, are normal (physiological) changes related to age (Rojas, 2008; Kading, 2008), The emphasis on this article was made in the physiological variations present in this patients. Among the factors that are kept under normal conditions, despite the passage of years, is the presence of binocular vision and within this depth, therefore it seeks to preserve this status within the visual system (Hansen, 2001; Casillas, 2005). This document far from being a manual for the adaptation of contact lenses allows the professional approach to the adaptation of contact lenses for patients with a presbyopia, diagnosis but not before clarifying that has been used the term “special contact lenses” for grouping those lenses that allow the management of two or more distances fixation (bifocal and multifocal).
