Clinical aspects relevant to the diagnosis of retinal venous occlusions: A review

Abstract

<em><strong>Objective</strong><em> To describe central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO) and branch retinal vein occlusion (BRVO), their clinical characteristics, diagnosis, treatment, and risk factors, using the most up-todate information. <em><strong>Materials and methods</strong><em> A systematized search was developed in the PubMed, Science Direct, ProQuest, and Medline databases, among others in addition, literary texts with information on the topic were included. Documents and information were selected from a publication period between 2005 and 2016. <em><strong>Conclusion</strong><em> CRVO and BRVO are prevalent pathologies in the daily practice the diagnostic approach used in optometry is of vital importance, since correct referral is beneficial for patients.
